Setting-up Facebook Connect

We had prepared instructions below on how to create your ‘Facebook Application’ and to setup the ‘Facebook Connect’ in your site.

Step One: Setting-up your Facebook Developers Account:

  1. To start with, navigate your browser to the Facebook Developers page. Here you will be asked to login to your “Facebook account“.
  2. Once logged in, click the “Get Started” button that is located beneath the large search box.

  3. Then the Register as a Facebook Developer” pop-up box will be displayed in your screen that contains this question ‘Do you accept the Facebook Platform Policy and the Facebook Privacy Policy?’ Click the slider button located in the right corner to enable your account as a Facebook Developer.
  4. Then click the ‘Next‘ button.

  5. Then type your phone number in the ‘Phone Number‘ field and click the ‘Send as text‘ button.
  6. After that, type in the ‘Confirmation Code‘ that was send to your phone in the ‘Confirmation Code‘ field and click the ‘Register‘ button.

  7. Now, click the ‘Create App ID‘ button.

Step Two: Create a New App ID:

  1. After you had clicked the ‘Create App ID‘ button, the ‘Create a New App ID‘ pop-up will display in your screen.
  2. Now, you need to type the ‘Display Name‘ and the your ‘Contact Email.’ Then click the ‘Create App ID’ button.

  3. Before you can create the ‘App ID‘ you need to answer the ‘Security Check‘ pop-up.

Step Three: Create a Facebook Login Product:

  1. After you had created an ‘App ID‘ you are now allowed to add a product in the ‘Select Product‘ page.
  2. In the ‘Select Product‘ page, move your mouse cursor to the ‘Facebook Login‘ product and click the ‘Set Up‘ button.

  3. After you had added a product, you need to choose a ‘PlatForm.’ Select the ‘WWW‘ as your platform.

  4. In configuring your platform, you just need to type the ‘URL‘ of your site in the ‘URL‘ field and click the ‘Save‘ button.
  5. Next, click the ‘Continue‘ button.

Step Four: Configure your Facebook App:

  1. Now, go to your ‘Dashboard‘ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Basic‘ and follow the settings pointed in the screenshot below.
    1. Type the ‘Site URL‘ of your site in the ‘App Domains‘ field. e.g(yoursite.com)
    2. Go to the ‘Category’ drop-down and select ‘Apps for Pages‘ in the drop-down selection.
    3. Next, go to the ‘Website‘ panel and type the ‘Site URL‘ of your site in the ‘Site URL‘ field.
    4. Finally, click the ‘Save Changes‘ button.

  2. Then, go to your ‘Dashboard‘ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Advanced‘ and follow the settings pointed in the screenshot below.
    1. Go to the ‘Native or desktop app?‘ setting and make sure that it is set to ‘No.’
    2. In the ‘App Restrictions‘ section, go to the ‘References Alcohol‘ setting and make sure that it is set to ‘No.’
    3. For the ‘Social Discovery‘ setting make sure that it is set to ‘Yes.’
    4. Then for the ‘Country Restricted‘ setting make sure that it is set to ‘No.’
    5. Finally, click the ‘Save Changes‘ button.

  3. After that, go to your ‘Dashboard‘ > ‘App Review‘ and follow the settings pointed in the screenshot below.
    1. Go to the ‘Make Elric public?‘ and enable the setting by click the pointed button below.
    2. In your case, the Elric in the ‘Make Elric public?’ setting will be change to the name of your app.
    3. Finally, click the ‘Save Changes‘ button.

  4. Then,  the ‘Make App Public?‘ pop-up will appear in your screen, click the ‘Confirm‘ button.

  5. Finally, go to your ‘Dashboard‘ > ‘Facebook Login‘ > ‘Settings‘ and follow the settings pointed in the screenshot below.
    1. Go to the ‘Client OAuth Settings‘ section and enable the ‘Client OAuth Login‘ setting, the ‘Web OAuth Login‘ setting, the ‘Embedded Browser OAuth Login‘ setting and the ‘Force Web OAuth Reauthentication‘ setting.
    2. Then in the ‘Valid OAuth redirect URI’s‘ setting, type the ‘URL‘ of your site.
    3. Finally, click the ‘Save Changes‘ button.
